PREPARATORY YEARThe compulsory Prep Year at St Francis Xavier offers the children a full-time year of schooling before they enter Year 1. This preparatory year helps to provide a firm foundation for future learning. Children develop their independence and social skills, physical skills, oral language, literacy and numeracy understandings, creativity and curiosity about the world. The curriculum is based on active learning, which includes real-life situations, learning through inquiry and play. It recognises the importance of children's brain development through learning using all 5 senses, and the role of adults in facilitating, scaffolding and monitoring student growth and learning.
