ROUTINES & PROCEDURES
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE ARRANGEMENTS
Late arrival:
If your child is late to school, they will need to report to the office to sign themselves in via the electronic sign in system ASR (attendance self-registration). Student attendance cards are available in the folders, on the shelf under the sign in laptop in the office.
Before School:
Parents are to ensure students DO NOT arrive at school before 8.15 a.m. on any day as there are no teachers on duty prior to this time. The responsibility of the children remains with the parents. From 8:15 a.m. a teacher is rostered on duty until the bell rings for class.
Leaving During School Time:
Children who need to leave during the day for appointments must give a note to the teacher prior to the appointment, then present themselves to the school office at the designated time to be signed out by the person collecting them. If returning to school, the child must be presented at the office once again and signed in before returning to class.
At the End of the School Day:
Children being collected by car should wait in the Pick-Up Zone in Mackenzie Street. This is the only supervised area for the children to wait to be picked up. Parents are requested to not leave cars unattended in the “Drop-off/Pick-Up Zone” in the morning or afternoon. This will ensure the safety of students, avoid congestion and permit a smooth and safe flow of traffic. You are requested to collect children by 3.15 p.m. Children are not to play in the school grounds or on the playground equipment after school.
Bicycles are not to be ridden in the school grounds. When entering or leaving the school grounds, they must be walked to the racks or to the gate. Children should have left the grounds by 3.15 p.m.
Children on buses should report immediately to the Bus Area, which is located at the front of the Hall on the Holland Street side of the school. A teacher supervises the bus area each afternoon. It is important that children go directly to the bus area as some buses leave at 2.55p.m.
Parents are not to use the bus area as a pick-up point. Please note, it is illegal to park in a bus zone, and fines may apply should you park in this designated area.

ABSENCES
Please contact the school as early as possible if your child/ren are absent from school. We will require an explanation for any absence of a pupil and this will be recorded into our student data system, for example, because of illness etc. A call to the office or a brief note to the child’s teacher is all that is necessary. If the school has not been advised, you will receive a text message requesting an explanation for the absence of your child. EXTENDED LEAVE
Extended leave during school time is to be kept to a minimum. If you decide to take holidays during term time, you are required to contact the school and chat to your child’s teacher. During the time of leave, teachers are not required to provide students with school work or catch up on assessment items. It is suggested that a holiday diary is kept. ASSEMBLIES
School assemblies are held on Fridays at 8:30am where Mercy Awards (Student of the Week) are distributed and birthdays acknowledged. Each class is placed on a roster to present a prayer to those gathered. Parents are welcome to attend. |
